I think this demonstrates the problem that Bill Maher was highlighting when he said: "Democrats are the new Republicans."
But larger than that, we've got a political system so in bed with corporations that nothing gets through unless it's good for (or at least minimally damaging to) those corporations. And we've got a media system that's so married to political ideologies that any balanced reporting of this problem is impossible to find and can only be glimpsed through the lampooning lenses of comedians.
After the training, I had some time to take a late-afternoon walk around Chicago and snap a few pics. I walked through Millennium and Grant Parks, past the Chicago Institute of Art, back up Lake Michigan to Navy Pier (where I got cinnamon-roasted almonds, my favorite), and then along the Chicago River on Wacker street. The sun was warm, but the breeze blowing from the lake kept things mostly cool and the clouds kept back the rain until I returned to the hotel.
Kinda creepy watching kids splashing around in what is apparently this guy's spit.
So a commentator on Hannity just said this is a "center-right government" (true) and Obama is "a far-left president." Ha! Ummm ... no.
Bill Maher said it best: "We don't have a left and a right party in this country anymore. We have a center-right party and a crazy party ... Democrats have moved to the right, and the right has moved into a mental hospital ... Democrats are the new Republicans."
Listen to the rest ... it won't take much of your time.
